I attend Half the Sky Live showing in Boston on March 4th.  I was dissapointed by the turn-out and the lack of advocacy outside the theater.  I showed up early for the movie, thinking I would have trouble getting tickets.  It turned out the theater was about 1/3 full.

I received a notification from the grassroots organization One to attend the movie. I thought there would be attendance and 'voice' from One at the theater as well.

In future events, I would also recommend a call for volunteers to create awareness outside the events could garner more support.  I would have done my part if I knew.

I had the same experience at a downtown theater in Minneapolis.

The theater I attended in St. Louis had a good crowd (not full though) and I was able to hand out information on CARE to many attendees. However, there is always more that can be done to create awareness and I am hopeful that the word will get around to more people next time. ONE is a great organization that does some fantastic work with college students-a good group to do some outreach to.

Hi Susan, Mary Ellen and Amy -

Thank you guys so much for supporting CARE and Half the Sky. I'm really sorry that the turnout wasn't well Susan and Mary Ellen, but I am happy for the people that did show up.

I hope that you guys are in touch with the CARE Field Organizers in your area for not only this feedback, but also for future CARE events. I also hope you guys can make it to the CARE National Conference in May. www.carenationalconference.org.

I am the volunteer Pennsylvania State Chair and am always looking for ways to do better advocacy here in PA, so reach out to me if you all want. Take care and thanks again!
