Success on Capitol Hill
Posted by: Katherine Porter at 2:01PM EST on June 17, 2010

Yesterday’s Congressional briefing on maternal health was fantastic. Attendance was high including strong representation from our target audience: Congressional staff. Unbeknownst to me, the Capitol Visitor Center where the briefing was being held was evacuated for a number of minutes just prior to the start of the briefing so perhaps some people were turned away.

Maternal Health Congressional Briefing Comes Together
Posted by: Katherine Porter at 1:58PM EST on June 15, 2010

Preparing for a Congressional visit in Peru
Posted by: Katherine Porter at 1:25PM EST on June 1, 2010
From my colleague, Sarah Lynch, who is in Peru awaiting a Congressional delegation….

I’m in Lima, Peru today advancing a trip that CARE is hosting this week with a top notch delegation of critical voices on the maternal health issue. We are anticipating the arrival of Secretary Donna Shalala, Congressman Luis Gutierrez and his wife, Congresswoman Kay Granger and an NPR producer – Andrea Hsu – who is working on a ten part series on the topic. We have also invited one of CARE’s stellar donor/advocates, Karen Kelly, who rallies other Americans and policymakers to support key pieces of US legislation that impacts the global poor.... (more)
