My colleague, Niki Clark, who works on media and communications around our advocacy work, just spent 2 life-changing weeks in Kenya. I highly recommend reading her blog -- you won't find a more passionate advocate!

In mid-October, I took my fiancée to the emergency room in Washington, D.C. when he spiked a fever of 105. A few days after that he was admitted into ICU with a blood infection that had every doctor “scratching their heads.” And by the end of the week, he was headed for open-heart surgery to remove a staff infection that was growing from his heart.
