As a group leader at CARE's annual national conference held last week in Washington, D.C., Deesha Dyer led a delegation of six Pennsylvanians and two CARE staff through a whirlwind day of meetings in the offices of Pennsylvania Senators Robert Casey and Arlen Specter, and Pennsylvania Representatives Allyson Y. Schwartz, Robert Brady and Joe Sestak.
In true Deesha Dyer-style, Deesha succinctly and adeptly explained to the members of Congress why fighting global poverty is in the United States' best interests, and what they specifically can do as Pennsylvania's elected leaders, to take concrete steps in achieving this goal. ... The day started with a bang – or a beat, in any case – for some 20 participants in this year’s CARE National Conference. These hardy souls gathered at 7 a.m., under the leadership of CARE Ambassador Eric Harr, and ran the few blocks to Washington’s National Mall. There, Master Drummer Antoinette Kudoto of Ghana provided the motivation, while they moved their bodies as part of the global movement against poverty.

I had every intention of eating the tomato - I could see myself cutting it up into slices for salad, using it for grilled cheese or a bacon/lettuce and tomato sandwich. But good intentions aren't enough.
